Selecting, Speaking and Saving: Applying Vocabulary Self-Collection Strategy in ESL Classroom at Intermediate Level at NUML

This particular research was conducted under the light of Martha Rapp Haggard’s vocabulary approach known as Vocabulary Self-Collection Strategy (VSS). The aim this to enhance active usage in learners with help VSS. Moreover, current study based on role VSS an English language learning classroom at intermediate level. A diagnostic pre-test ‘vocabulary self-collection group’ and ‘controlled group’. two groups were enrolled sections same reading writing course diploma course. who belonged asked self-collect words improve their vocabulary, whereas taught usual manner. After weeks practice, unseen post-test administered from both groups. performance statistically analyzed results quite optimistic, group outperformed controlled group. participants researchers students level, classes NUML. qualitative quantitative data. data gathered through attained by observation researcher scores. tools lesson plans, pre-test, post-test. material used five illustrated texts for level journals students. sample size included 46 National University Modern Languages, Islamabad. implementation strategy led several improvements.
